“The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel: “lmmigrants should learn to speak German”
Attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany have “utterly failed”, Chancellor Angela Merkel says.
She said the so-called “multikulti” concept – where people would “live side-by-side” happily – did not work, and immigrants needed to do more to integrate – including learning German.”
this is an excerpt from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11559451
The excerpt is pretty tame but if you think about it, it insinuates something much greater in weight. One thing that always bugs me is the ability for historical trends to blatantly repeat themselves. Granted, the end result is always different but the means for the trend itself are usually the same. For example, World War II brought America out of the great depression, and Bush started a war for oil to offset this current recession. One succeeded and one was the abysmal failure of a tyrannical moron. The bulldog faced chanellor is a part of a process that has happened time and time again in times of recession and economic collapse. Its the classic question of fundamentalism vs. relativism. Fundamentalists turn back to a golden era of their country/nation/religious denomination and do their best to change the world around them accordingly. Relativism embraces the new found freedom and hardship and works accordingly to the impending changes (clearly im a relativist). This is the same thing thats taking place in America. On one hand you have Sarah Palin and the teabaggers who scream and rant about small government, stronger immigration laws, low taxes and damning wall street (all of which are pretty legitimate appeals). On the other hand, theres Obama, whose saying the left and right in America should get together and bury the hatchet but move forward. Nobody is really right or wrong. its all just opinion (everybody is just airing out their assholes). At the end of the day the media galvanizes the respective sides.. Bill O Riley yells, John Stewart makes fun and people forget theyre watching tv and get way too into it; dawn war paint and picket signs, and get up in each other’s faces.
So ive aired my asshole about other people airing their assholes quite a bit. What I originally meant to say was the xenophobia and hating on immigrants is typical of fundamentalists which is an unoriginal movement that occurs every time there is a fall in living standards. The last time there was economic devastation in Germany, Hitler came to power.
